The branded products that work for real estate agents are the ones a buyer or seller uses at home after the open home. A decent pen and an A5 notepad at the front door, a tote bag for brochures, an insulated bottle left with a vendor after the appraisal and a settlement gift on handover day will each be used for months. A stress ball shaped like a house usually ends up in a drawer.

Prices vary with quantity, number of print colours and setup fees. Pens and magnets are cheapest at volume; gift boxes are priced per box.

Open homes: pens, notepads and water

Buyers at an open home are trying to remember room sizes, the price guide, the strata levies and which house had the good kitchen. A notepad printed with a simple property checklist (address, bedrooms, parking, notes, price guide) helps them do that, and your logo and number go home with them on every page. Crest Promos prices an A5 open-home pad from $3.40 a unit, and a 25-page pad is enough for a buyer who sees four or five homes on a Saturday.

Pair the pad with a pen that writes properly. A metal or soft-touch pen at $1.50 to $3 costs more than a $0.60 plastic clicker, but buyers tend to keep a pen that feels solid and throw away one that skips. Pad printing in one colour suits most pens; laser engraving on metal barrels lasts longer and suits a pen you hand over at contract signing.

In summer, labelled bottled water is the cheapest way to get your brand into a buyer's hand at an outdoor auction or a hot Saturday open home. A custom wrap label costs from $1.10 a bottle, though the bottle gets recycled the same day, so treat it as hospitality.

[Draft quote for Jerome to approve] "The notepad does more work than anything else at an open home. Buyers write on it, take it to the next three inspections and still have it on the kitchen bench a week later when they decide who to call."

Tote bags for brochures and buyer packs

A tote holds the brochure, a floor plan, a notepad and a pen in one go, and then gets reused for groceries and the beach for years. The 2026 ASI Ad Impressions Study puts a $6 tote bag at nearly 5,000 impressions over its life, at around a tenth of a cent each, which makes it one of the better-value items an agency can buy.

Natural cotton and recycled cotton look the most at home in property marketing. Choose a bag of at least 140gsm with long handles so it fits over a shoulder, and keep the print to your logo and website. Totes also work at local school fetes, markets and sponsored sporting events, where they reach people who are not yet buying or selling.

Drinkware for sellers and past clients

Drinkware suits the seller side of the business. An insulated stainless bottle or a reusable coffee cup left behind after an appraisal stays in the vendor's kitchen while they decide which agent to list with, and keeps going to work in the car for years after the sale. Expect to pay $12 to $30 for a quality bottle or cup with a laser-engraved or printed logo. Crest Promos turns around insulated bottles in under two weeks.

Spend more per piece here than at an open home. You are handing a bottle to one person who might give you a listing worth several thousand dollars in commission, so a $25 bottle with a clean engraved logo is better value than a $6 plastic one. Engraving on stainless steel survives the dishwasher; printed logos on cheap coatings can wear off within months.

Settlement gifts and client appreciation

A settlement gift is the last thing a buyer or seller receives from you, and often the one clients photograph and post. Most agencies spend $40 to $90 a box. A box might include a bottle of local wine or sparkling, a candle, gourmet snacks, an engraved keyring for the new keys and a handwritten card. Branding belongs on the lid, the ribbon or the card. Put your logo on the wine label and the gift looks like advertising.

Keyrings are a cheap addition that gets used every day. An engraved metal house keyring from $4.20 goes on the new set of keys at handover, and the buyer carries it for as long as they own the home.

Client appreciation outside settlement works best on a calendar. A December gift to past clients, a birthday card with a small branded item, or a thank-you to the referral source on the day a referred listing sells all keep you in contact without a sales pitch.

On tax, the Australian Taxation Office generally treats gifts to clients that are not entertainment, such as hampers, wine and branded goods, as deductible. Gifts that are entertainment, such as tickets to a game or a show, generally are not. Check your own situation with your accountant before you set a gift budget.

[Draft quote for Jerome to approve] "The agents who get the most out of settlement gifts order a batch in winter and keep them in the office. The gift goes out the day the keys do, while the client is still excited about the house."

Timing giveaways across the real estate year

Cotality (formerly CoreLogic) found that over the past five years, new listings nationally rose almost 25% between the end of August and the middle of November. SQM Research recorded total listings up 10.9% month on month in October 2025. Open-home stock ordered in September often arrives after the first spring listings have already gone up.

Allow two to three weeks for most branded stock items from artwork approval. Corflute signage usually ships in five to seven business days.

Branding that suits a property business

Real estate logos are often fine wordmarks with a thin outline, which can lose detail on a pen barrel. Ask for a one-colour version of your logo for small items, and send your brand guide with Pantone references so your purple or navy matches the signboards on the street.

Decide early whether an item carries the agency brand or an individual agent's name and mobile. Agency branding suits long-life items like bottles, totes and keyrings, because they stay in use after an agent changes offices. An agent's name and number suit pens and notepads that are used up within a few months. A QR code linking to your current listings or an appraisal booking page works well on notepads and magnets, as long as the page behind it stays live.

Items handed out at an open home sit next to your listing brochure, so match their colours to your signboards. A neon plastic pen beside a premium brochure looks out of place.

Ordering real estate merchandise through Crest Promos

Crest Promos supplies Australian agencies with open-home kits, settlement gift boxes, agent polos and jackets, corflute signage and branded gifts from one account. For multi-office groups, each office can order its own quantities from a shared catalogue with per-office billing, while head office approves the artwork once. Crest holds stock of common open-home items for agencies that reorder through spring, so a new listing does not wait on a fresh print run.

Every order gets a digital proof before production, and colours are matched to your brand guide. For spring and Christmas campaigns, send your quantities in July and October and Crest will schedule delivery around your listing dates.

Real estate merchandise FAQs

How much should an agency budget per open home?

Budget $3 to $8 per group through the door, which covers a notepad, a pen and water in summer. At 20 groups per open home that comes to $60 to $160.

Which promotional item is the cheapest that people keep?

A good pen. At $1.50 to $3 it costs a little more than a basic plastic pen, but buyers keep a pen that writes well and feels solid.

How many notepads should I order for spring?

Count your expected open homes across September to November, multiply by your average number of groups per open home and add 20% for spares. An agent running six open homes a week with 15 groups each over 13 weeks needs 1,170 pads, or about 1,400 with spares.

Can I put a QR code on branded products?

Yes. Notepads, magnets, totes and gift cards all print QR codes clearly. Link to a page you control, such as your agency's listings or appraisal booking page, rather than a single property that will sell.

Are client gifts tax deductible in Australia?

Gifts to clients that are not entertainment, such as hampers, wine and branded items, are generally deductible. Entertainment gifts such as event tickets generally are not. Confirm with your accountant.

How far ahead should I order for the spring selling season?

Order open-home stock by mid July for September delivery. Allow two to three weeks for most branded items and more for custom gift boxes in November and December, when demand peaks.

Can each agent have their own name on the items?

Yes. Pens and notepads can be printed per agent in smaller runs. Long-life items such as bottles and totes are usually better with the agency brand only.

Before you order

Send your supplier your logo as a vector file, your brand guide, the number of open homes and settlements you expect over the season and the date the first open home goes up. With that, a supplier can quote the open-home kit, the appraisal gift and the settlement box together and schedule delivery before your first spring listing.

Planning your spring open-home kit?

Send your logo, listing numbers and first open-home date. We'll come back with itemised options the next business day.
